Arts, Crafts Sewing => Painting, Drawing Art Supplies => Art Paper Outlet Online Discount Deebior CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING+PILOT+ALIGN TOOL KIT Compatible w Shop Cheap Online I love painting on this Canson paper! It's 9x12, and I use it folded in half to make a card. It makes a sturdy, 6x9 card. (It could certainly be framed by the recipient, but 6x9 is not a standard size, so you could always cut 1" off the long side before you fold/paint it, to make 6x8).What I do is tape them onto the back of an 11x14 canvas board to stable them for painting. And I can use my easel then, too.I drew a blue line on the fish painting to represent where I place the artists tape, right along the fold seam, so you can paint a nice clean edge, and it keeps the back of the card clean during painting, unless you are just super wild with your brush strokes! ????They make such nice cards. I love giving these out to my friends.Oh, and it varnishes nice, too. Looks really beautiful varnished.PS, I'm using acrylic, with very little water. If you add lots of water to your acrylic, these will warp, they are paper after all. But as you can see in the photo, no problem with them drying nice and flat in acrylic with little water.I have used these a lot for my smaller work. I work with watered down acrylics and I pour TONS of paint onto my canvasses and work with multiple layers upon layers. I was afraid these wouldn't hold up to the way I paint but they really did. There is a bit of curling upon drying but that can easily be fixed by laying them under some books for a bit or framing them as I've done. I'd highly recommend these for both finished work that you plan on framing and practice/planning exercises.Worked really well. I used acrylic and even blasted some water for effect, nothing bleed through and piece dried really well... Like I let puddles of water sit flat on it. No issues. Good beginner pad for my first piece!I really liked this paper for oil painting. I had no problems with buckling or tearing and my oils worked well with the paper. That wasn’t the case with acrylics, however. The paper almost immediately buckled and warped when using acrylics that had water added to them. Will definitely be using this paper again with oils and I will use it with acrylics but not for finished pieces. It's very thick and sturdy. One side is slightly less rigged, deppending on how you like to paint. I put down gesso before painting and that makes things run smoother. I use acrylic, so I don't know how oils lay out. I tape the paper to a board, but ocassionally the paper warps a little of I use excessive water. I prefer this paper to canvas as it feels better, doesn't flex under the brush. More control. Cheaper too.its great for quick studies and if needed projects! Just used some!! Textured and holds paint well! For those complaining about crinkle, your not supposed to water down acrylic paint you need to dilute it will special thinners, and yes it will crinkle as its paper, water color does the same. to fix the issue take it down to hard surface and it should be pretty flat when its dry and completed!!! Great brand I always love their stuff, its cost effective and good quality!I'm very happy with this paper for Mixed Media. It's my first time using it... I'm not sure why I haven't tried it before, but I'm glad I tried it during this project. It was just what I needed.I just finished utilizing it to illustrate a "junk-journal style" children's book, so I used/tested plenty of different mediums this past week.I have no skin in the game, bought this myself. But I enjoy reading reviews before buying (before wasting my money lol) so maybe this review will help a fellow crafter/maker/artist decide what paper they need.It held up well to acrylics, gesso, Sharpie markers, Posca paint pens, tempuras, and different types of adhesives. No problems. This is probably the best paper I've EVER used with Gesso because the medium didn't distort the page in any way. I applied it on THICK! The paper/canvas didn't budge. Continued to lay flat. From now on, if I need a spackle-thick texture (like the hospital cut-out in the photo) this will be my go-to paper. And to think, I had almost sworn off Gesso and gel mediums. I just didn't have the right paper.I DID NOT use watercolor on this paper, and wouldn't.It's not pourous or absorbent, so your watercolors wouldn't be effective. I also wouldn't recommend using this as your primary sketching pad. You'll be able to draw on the page before painting, but it's too slick for graphite or charcoal to stay put.I have not tried oils yet, but it's supposed to work well with oil paint so I'm not worried. It took my ink pens fine. I haven't painted with Indian Ink or Quink on it yet, but again, the non-porous surface probably won't take to the inking arts very well-- nor would I want to use any water based markers on it.You can always attach your painted or sketched pg to this heavy canvas paper by adhering it, as I've done in my project. You can try laying down a layer of gesso or gel medium to make this paper play better with water based paints amp; markers. Once your surface is dry, that should work fine.In my photos, you can see where I used this paper in some of the cutouts (photo: pregnant mom and hospital cutout) and I also used it as the sturdy paper I built each page onto. (The hands are also a cutout from my sketchpad and applied to the canvas ppr.)I usually use heavy cardstock or heavy (overly expensive) watercolor paper to give more weight to the pages in these projects, but so far, this canvas paper is superior, and it's a better value $.Hope this helps. Happy making :)This was sent as a gift along with a painting kit, so I have not actually seen the product. I have used this kind of paper myself however and for a person who is learning to paint with either oil or acrylic, or just for painting without bothering with a stretched, gessoed, canvas, this kind of paper is great.
